Most of us have our Thanksgiving day menus pre-planned with the traditional annual line up of turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie etc., but when preparing appetizers there is a little more freedom for creativity. Here are a couple of ideas for some festive appetizers to set out while gathering together with family and friends, celebrating God’s love for us in providing for us every day. We hope all of you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Olive Puff Acorns:
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup flour
1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
1/8 tsp cayenne
1/4 tsp paprika
15-20 large green olives
Mix and bake at 400 for 15 min.
I used olives stuffed with garlic cloves.
Paprika adds some nice warm coloring.
Roll dough into small balls and flatten. Wrap around about half of the olive. Stick a small slice of carrot into the top for the stems.
Here are a couple other ideas for Thanksgiving appetizers:Cut ridges into a cheese ball and stick a wedge of green veggie (I used cucumber) into the top like a stem. Cheddar cheese balls work well, because they are orange. And pumpkins are orange. Rocket science here.
For these, simply press a slice of pecan into a dinner roll to turn them into cute little pumpkins.
