Miracle Products (Part 1): The Mrs’ Beauty Secrets Revealed

As the editor of Little Rock Beauty Black Book, I get the opportunity to learn about and sometimes try new and unique treatments and products that I wouldn’t otherwise discover. For our newest issue, which is in production now, I’m working on revealing the beauty secrets of some of Little Rock’s most beautiful women – inside and out. It’s been fun to peek into their makeup bags and review their beauty regimens.

I’ve most enjoyed, however, finding out what they consider to be their “miracle” or “can’t-live-without” products. I’ve been asking them, “What one beauty treatment or product has made the most noticeable difference for you, or what’s something you’ll never stop using because its just that good?” You’ll have to wait for the new issue for all of their answers.

I will share one with you now: Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. One of our beauty insiders said it was her must-have.

THE LEGEND: Created in 1930 by Elizabeth Arden herself to soothe skin, it became an instant and overwhelming success. What made it so effective? A combination of petrolatum, a skin-soothing beta-hydroxy — debuting in one of its first cosmetic uses — and vitamin E. The apricot-colored balm was so beneficial to her clients that Miss Arden even used it to soothe her famous thoroughbred horses’ legs. -ElizabethArden.com”

Our interviewee said she’s been using it since her pre-teen years and grew up watching her mom use it. She swears by it, as do a lot of women out there (including celeb makeup artists and beauty editors). Maybe even you do.

It sounds amazing, so I can’t wait to try it!
This magazine assignment made me think about what my own and my fellow Mrs. miracle products are … thus, I share mine now and will share the other ladies’ secrets in subsequent posts (I mean, I have to lure you back somehow, right?).

So, what is my must-have product?

While I have many must-haves, I don’t think I’ve ever gone without Clearasil Daily Face Wash.

It’s like $5 at any grocery or drugstore, but I’d pay a lot more to ensure I have a lifetime supply. The funny thing is, I don’t have acne or a lot of breakouts. But I’ve been using Clearasil since I was 13, so I give it the credit for my skin being breakout-free for most of my adolescence through to present day.

Thank you Clearasil for clear skin during high school!

It’s creamy and cool on my face, so sometimes I use it as a five-minute face mask for a deeper clean. My skin is soft, almost always pimple-free and feels tingly clean after each use. It is a little drying, which it claims it’s not, but I apply face cream after each washing anyway, so it’s never been a big deal. And when I do get the occasional pimple (or three) during that time of the month or in a high-stress time, I just dab a little bit of the face wash onto the zit(s) before bed and it’s definitely smaller in the AM. There is absolutely no need to buy the Clearasil or similar zip spot treatment in addition to the cleanser; they basically have the same ingredients.

Stay tuned for when I reveal the other Mrs. miracle beauty products (and a few more of mine!). And we’d LOVE to know what yours are! Share your own so we can try them! Simply comment below or post them on our Facebook wall!

PS: Remember their commercials in the 90s!? And the old Clearasil bottles? Totally a customer for life. Haha.
