Being an editor in the magazine biz — while not the most lucrative career — does have it’s perks.
One in particular: Business trips.
Usually my job doesn’t require these, as I run state and regional magazines, like Arkansas Bride. I mainly stay close to home base for my to-dos.
This year, however, I’m jetting off to New York City for Bridal Week to scope out the latest in bridal fashion, mingle with industry professionals and have a good time catching up with Arkansas boutique owners who are also in NYC ordering from the new lines.
It’s gonna be awesome.
Of course, I’m already planning my wardrobe. Here’s a peek into my suitcase … do I have everything I need for an October weekend in The Big Apple? Love it, hate it, add to it … tell me in the comments!
The Shoes

Tory Burch “Marlene” Riding Boot — Mine actually have a gray wool calf section. Michael picked me out some limited edition, boutique-exclusives for my bday! He knows how I like to be different. You literally can’t find them ANYWHERE online!
The Jeans

Citizens of Humanity “Arielle” Mid-Rise, Slim Straight in Black — A little stretch to them so I’m comfy but still crisp and polished … they don’t necessarily look like jeans so they’re the perfect “dress up or down” pants!
The Layers

Leopard-print Kimono (try this one) — The perfect light layer for daytime press appointments and runway show hopping, and for dressing up for dinner and drinks in NYC with our vendor friends after!

Leather Motorcylce Jacket (try this one) – This will look killer over a white dress I’m taking for a nice event, but also great over just about everything else. #cantwait
The Bag

Tory Burch “Amanda” Crossbody Clutch — It’s not really a clutch. It’s bigger than that, but not too big that it’ll weigh me down while walking the streets of NYC. And will be easy to have with me at the shows and press appointments.
The Makeup.
1. Bye Bye Under Eye by it! Cosmetics … BEST concealer for bags EVER!
2. Double Perfection Power Foundation by Chanel … Long-lasting coverage!
3. Laura Mercier Cremé Eyeshadow in Platinum … I never go w/out it. Brightens up my whole face.
4. YSL Eyeshadow Quad … The top left color is what I wear everyday as powder eyeliner.
5. Maybelline Cat Eyes Mascara (Waterproof) … No clumps, ever. Great length. Long lasting.
I want to see photos of the wardrobe on YOU!
Oh, don’t you worry … the photos are coming! I’ll be posting like CRAZY from NYC on Facebook and Instagram (are you on those?). And will likely do a wrap-up post or two for the blog. XO
