For Christmas, my sweet friend Kami gave me an adorable doggie coffee mug, Christmas-pup dish towel and a dog bone-shaped cookie cutter with recipe for making homemade doggie bone biscuits. I was thrilled. Such a creative gift idea.
It’s taken me a while, but I finally got around to trying the recipe and spoiling my already-spoiled pooch, Colby with gourmet treats. The only thing weird to me is that the recipe says “peanut butter” but there is no peanut butter in these at all. Weird. But doesn’t matter. Colby loved, loved, loved her first one. Many more leftover for the next couple of weeks.
Here’s the recipe and the results. Enjoy!

And….. not bad! Flavorless for the most part … kind of tasted like really flour-y corn bread…..or something.
I mean … come on. Look at that puppy’s expression! #classic
My sweet Brittany Spaniel, Colby LOVED them. And, I let them cool almost all the way and let her enjoy it slightly warm, just how I like my fresh-baked for-human cookies. 🙂
Love this! She looks so happy!! 🙂

Oh! I’ve got to try these for my dogs! 🙂 Brittany is adorable!
Aww 🙂 So sweet! That is weird about the peanut butter o.O Maybe they meant peanut butter but just put ‘3 t butter’ by accident? Do you think it would work to substitute peanut butter for the butter?
U know….that might have been it!!! Good thinking!!! I am sure it would! Because why oil and butter? Ya know?
That’s what I thought 🙂 Maybe they wouldn’t taste so plain then… not that Colby seemed to mind! 🙂

I wouldn’t try sampling our biscuits! We use yummy leftovers and we make them much smaller, basically for teaching, rather than as treats. I hadn’t thought of using oats. We used rye flour mainly for allergy reasons; I’ve heard some dogs are coeliacs.
